He was a police constable in 1911 and served with the Nottingham City Police Force.

George Henry Warrener was born on 31st December 1887 at Sneinton, he was baptised on 27th December 1888 at St Ann’s Nottingham, he was the son of the late George Wilson Warrener a tram driver, and Harriet Warrener née Swindall who lived at 13 Kirkwhite Street, The Meadows, Nottingham.
His father William Wilson was born in 1865 at Gainsborough he died in 1911 aged 46 yrs, his mother Harriett Swindall was born in 1866 at Nottingham, they were married on 7th October 1882 at St Matthias Church in Sneinton, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 88 Kirkwhite Street, Nottingham William Wilson 46 yrs is a tram driver, e is living with his wife Harriett 45 yrs and their children, Annie Elizabeth 18 yrs a lace pattern girl, Nellie 25 yrs a lace pattern girl, George Henry 23 yrs a Police Constable, Harry 18 yrs a clerk, Florence Winnie 15 yrs a clerk and William Arthur Warrener 13 yrs an errand boy.
Private George Warrener, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards. He landed in France on 6th October 1914 and was killed in action on 25th September 1916 he is buried in the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs (grave ref. I.B.8)
Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 18 October 1916: 'Warreer. Killed in action September 25th, Private George Warrener, Grenadier Guards, late of Nottingham City Police Force, eldest son of the late George Wilson Warrener and Mrs Warrener, formerly of Shelton Street.'
