Family history

Albert Hallam was born in 1891 at Gotham, Nottinghamshire , he was the son of Henry a plaster miner and Mary Jane Hallam née Price of 19 Bosworth Road Meadows Nottingham.

His father Henry was born in 1863 at Gotham, Nottinghamshire, his mother Mary Jane Price was born in 1871 also at Gotham, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 19 Bosworth Road,Meadows, Nottingham, Henry 47 yrs is a plaster miner, he is living with his wife Mary 41 yrs and their 9 children including Albert 21 yrs a railway engine cleaner.

Albert was the husband of Clara Hudson (born 22nd February 1886) they were married in 1911 at Nottingham, of 2 Parr's Yard St Peter's Street Old Radford Nottingham they had a son Henry Hallam born 1st February 1913,

Commencing 17th April 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week, at this date she was living at 5 Deakins Place, St Peters Street, Radford.

Military history

Private Albert Hallam enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing atRadford, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 9th August 1915 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial. Belgiunm
