Thomas Tatham was born in 1892 at Nottingham, he was the son of William Tatham a lace maker and the late Martha Tatham née Atkin of 44 Hartley Road, Radford, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1852 at Nottingham, his mother Martha Atkin was born in 1854 at Lenton she died in 1918 she was 64 years of age, they were married in 1873 at Radford and went on to have 13 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family were living at 82 Garfield Road, Radford, William 58 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Martha 57 yrs and their children, Eliza Blanche 22 yrs a cigarette packer, Dorothy Ethel 21 yrs a tobacco poacher, Thomas 18 yrs a threader and Frederick 17 yrs a tobacco operator.
Corporal Thomas Tatham enlisted on 24th August 1911 at Nottingham, giving his age as 18 yrs and 9 months, his address was 82 Garfield Road, Radford, he was posted to the 7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He landed in France on 27th February 1915. He was killed in action during the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
