Douglas Frank McNicol was baptised on 13th December 1885 at St Johns Church, Kensington and Chelsea he was the son of Colin a commercial traveller and Kate McNicol née Finn.

His father Colin was born in 1850 at Scotland his mother Kate Finn was born in 1859 at London, they were married on 20th May 1880 at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, Kensington, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census his father and sister are living at 21 Fernshaw Road, Chelsea, London Colin 56 yrs is a poulterer, he is living with his daughter Dorothy Grace McNicol 23 yrs no occupation listed.

Military history

Private Douglas Frank McNicol en listed at Nottingham whilst residing at Wealdstone, He served with the 12th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died in Brighton on 29th October 1914 and is buried in Harrow (Wealdstone) Cemetery, Middlesex (grave ref. B.1140).
