Nelson Brown was born in 1898 in Woodborough,Nottinghamshire he was the son of William a farm labourer and Charlotte Brown née Desborough of Calverton.
His faher William was born in 1868 at Calverton his mother Charlotte Desborough was born in 1870 at Woodbrough, they were married on 22nd March 1897 at St Swithuns Church, Woodborough, they had 3 children.
in the 1911 census he is shown as 13 yrs of age single and working on a farm,he is living at Sansom Wood Cottages Calverton with his father William 43 yrs a farm labourer and mother Charlotte 40 yrs and also two brothers William 9yrs and Charlie 3 yrs.
Private Nelson Brown enlisted in Hucknall into the Sherwood Foresters, he was killed in action France & Flanders on 10th October 1917 and is buried in Poelcapelle British Cemetery, Belgium
