
George Ashworth
Attended Mundella School, Meadows, Nottingham. Mundella Magazine, Christmas 1918, ROH: 'Ashworth, George, 2nd Lieut, Sherwoods.' His brother, Leonard, also attended Mundella School. He was a printer.

He was the son of William Hilton and Clara Ashworth of 50 Manor Street Sneinton Nottingham. He was the brother of Arthur, Leonard, Elsie, Evelyn, Florence and Lillian Ashworth. In 1911 they lived at The Mill House Victoria Road Netherfield Nottinghamshire. Second Lieutenant Leonard Ashworth was killed on 12/4/1918 serving with 13th Bn York and Lancaster Regiment.
19th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), attached 8th Bn The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
