He was the son of Sarah Barton (formerly Brown) and the brother of Lily and Nelly Brown. In 1911 they lived at 83 Park Street New Lenton Nottingham with Sarah's husband John Walker Barton and their daughter Ada.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 83 Park Street, Lenton John Walker Barton 36 yrs is a moulder in an iron foundry, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann Barton 46 yrs a housewife, and her children, Harry Brown 15 yrs a printer, Lilly Brown 11 yrs and Nelly Brown 6 yrs of age. and Ada Barton 1 year old.
His father Thomas Brown a factory twist hand was born in 1863 at Nottingham, he died in 1902 at Nottingham he was 39 yrs old, his mother Sarah Ann Miller was born in 1865 at Nottingham, they were married prior to 1893 they had 3 children, Agnes b1893, Harry born 1896, and Lilly born 1900
Harry was the husband of Annie Brown (born 30th September 1877) they lived at 10 Irwin Street, Ribbleton Lane, Preston, Lancashire they had a daughter Ethel Mary born 15th August 1911.
Commencing 18th September 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 17 shillings and 6 pence a week.
Private Harry Brown enlisted at Preston, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action, 3rd March 1916, in the actions near the Ypres/Commines Canal.
