Family history

James Donnelly Ginnever was born in 1896 at Kimberley he was the son of James Robert a farmer and Ada Love Ginnever néé Donnelly and the brother of Bertram and Noel Ginnever of 8 Newcastle Street, Kimberley.

His father James Robert was born in 1870 at Kimberley, his mother Ada Love Donnelly was born in 1871 also at Kimberley, they were married on 1st January 1895 at Holy Trinity church, Kimberley, they went on to have 5 childre, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived on Newdigate Lane Kimberley Nottinghamshire, James 41 yrs is a farmer, he is living with his wife Ada Love 40 yrs and their children, James D 15 yrs a stble lad, Bertram 12 yrs a scholar and Noel 3 yrs of age.

Military history

Private James Donnelly Ginnever enlisted at Derby he served with the 20th battalion (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 6th January 1917, he is buried at Ration Farm Cemetery, La Chapelle-D'Armentieres,
