Samuel Trout was born on 25th December 1887 at Nottingham he was the son of Thomas Samuel Trout a bricklayers labourer and Nellie Trout

In 1901 he was an inmate of the Wandsworth Boys' Home Reformatory in London.

In 1911 he was serving with 2nd Bn York and Lancaster Regiment at Farnham Surrey. he was 23 yrs of age,

Military history

Private Samuel Trout enlisted at Doncaster,on 27th February 1907 he was a farm servant. He served with the 2nd battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, landing in France on 9th September 1914, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
