Archibald John Allgood was born in 1895 at Cambridge, he was the son of Arthur a bricklayer and Selia Allgood née Collett of Chippendale Street, Nottingham.

His father was born in 1871 at Cmbridge, his mother Selina Collett was born in 1870 at oft, Cambridge, they were married in 1894 at Caxton, Cambridgeshire, they went on to have 6 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or ealy childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 2 Chippendale Street, Nottingham Arthur Allgood 39 yrs is bricklayer he is living with his wife Selina 39 yrs and ther children, Archie 16 yrs a lace pattern maker, Winnie 13 yrs a scholar and Elsie 11 yrs a scholar,

Military history

Private Archibald John Allgood enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 5th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 26th September 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Panels 35 to 37 and 162 to 162A.
