Family history

Walter Rowland Dadley was born in 1878 at Nottingham, he was the son of Isaac Jeffries Dadley a dentist and Mary Ann Dadley née Lank of 8 Henry Road, West Bridgford.

His father Isaac Jeffries was born in 1855 at Derby, his mother Mary Ann Lank was bornin 1856 at Stamford, they were married in 1877 at Nottingham, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at 8 Henry Road, West Birgford, Nottingham, Isaac 53 yrs is a dentist, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 54 yrs and their daughter Harriett Ethel 28 yrs no occupation listed, aslo living with the family is a domestic servant, Rose Ann Cotton 23 yrs a servant.

Walter Rowland married Edith Kate Hall born 28th December 1917, they were married on 2nd June 1906 at St Andrews Church, Nottingham, they lived at 7 Alpha Trerrace, Sherwood Street, Nottingham, the had 3 children, Francis Walter born 13th September 1906 (died 14th October 1914) Geoffrey Hall born 29th September 1908 and Marian Alice born 15th August 1916.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 7 Alpha Terrace, Sherwood Stret, Nottingham, Walter Dadley 39 yrs is a dental anesthetist, he is living with his wife Edith Kate 33 yrs and their children, Francis Walter 4 yrs and Geoffrey Hall 2 yrs of age, also living wit the family is a domestic servant Mary Jane Fletcher 25 yrs a servant.

Commencing 14th April 1919 his widow was awarded apension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week increasing to 50 shillings aweek on 14th April 1919.

Military history

Gunner Wlater Rowland Dadley enlisted at Nottingham, he served at Signalling Traing Centre, Royal Field Artillery, he died of pneumonia on 5th October 1918, he is buried in the Nottingham Church Cemetery.
