Levi Thomas Grice was born in 1895 at Clayhanger, Staffordshire he was the son of Walter Grice a coal miner hewer and Emily Ann Grice née Mason of 11 Cliff Street, Mansfield,

His father Walter was born in 1870 at Brownhills, Staffordshire, his mother Emily Ann Mason was born in 1869 at Mansfield, they were married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Walsall registration district, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 19 Bentinck Street, Newgate Lane, Mansfield, Walter 41 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Emily Ann 42 yrs and their children, Levi Thomas 15 yrs a horse driver coal miner, Mary Elizabeth 13 yrs, John Frederick 8 yrs and Walter Richard 5 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Levi Thomas Grice enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 9th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 30th December 1915 at Malta of pneumonia, he was buried:at Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Plot C. Row 5. Grave 1.

Extra information
