Family history

Charles Creed was born in Dublin in 1893, he was the son of Frederick James and Verena Mary Creed née Chapelle of 36 Welbeck Street, Mansfield.

His father Frederick James was born in 1869 in Somerset, his mother Verena Mary Chappelle was born in 1869 in Hertfordshire, they were married in 1892 in Ireland, they went on to have 3 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 36 Welbeck Street, Mnasfield, Frederick James 42 yrs is a builders labourer, he is living with his wife Verena Mary 42 yrs and their children, Charles 18 yrs a wood turner, Henry 15 yrs a barbers assistant and Reginald 13 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Gunner Charles Creed enlisted at Derby he served with the Trench Mortar Battery 146th battery, Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds on 1st April 1917 he is buried at Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty, France.
