Family history
He was the son of Thomas and Mary Ann Jackson. His father was a Chemical Labourer and the family lived in Old Westwood, near Selston. Joe had two sisters, Louisa and Sophia, and a younger brother George. By 1911 Joe was working as a brickyard hand. By the time of Joe's death his parents had moved to 2 Ouse Bridge Burton Road Carlton Nottingham.
Military history
Joe enlisted at Nottingham and was sent to France on 27 April 1917. He was eligible for the 1915 Star, British and Victory medals.
