Lewis was born in 1897 in Calverton,he was the son of John joiner and Mary Lydia Wiggett,née Stevenson of Calverton.

His father John was born in 1864 at Annesley , his mother Mary Lydia Stevenson was born in 1862 at Arnod, they were married on 5th June 1888 at St Marys Church, Arnold, they went on to have 5 children.

On the 1911 census Lewis is 14 yrs of age and living in Calverton with his parents John 47 yrs a joiner from Annesley,Notts and Mary born 1866 of Arnold and his four elder siblings, John Arnold 23 yrs a joiner, Frank Arnod 19 yrs a painter, Jesse Mary no occupation listed,Bernard Davison 16 yrs a lace draughtsman.

Military history

Private Lewis Victor Wiggett enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 3rd battalion Grenadier Guards,he was killed in action France & Flanders on 28th March 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France
