Family history

Charles Stanley was born in 1883 in Carlton, he was the son of Charlotte Buckley (formerly Stanley), the brother of Mary and Sidney Stanley and half brother to Harry, Rebecca and Hilda Buckley.

In the 1901 census the family lived on Cromwell Street, Carlton, Nottingham with Charlotte's husband Alfred Buckley a brick layers labourer.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 80 Station Road, Carlton, Charles 27 yrs is a brick layers labourer, he is living with his stap father Alfred Buckley 51 yrs and his mother Charlotte Buckley 51 yrs and his sibling Mary Stanley 35 yrs a cotton doubler, Sidney Buckley 23 yrs a railway engine cleaner, Rebecca Buckley 18 yrs a machinist and Hilda Buckley 14 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Charles Stanley enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Carlton, he served with the1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 16th April 1916 and is buried in Aix-Noulette Communal Cemetery Extension, Grave Reference: 1.B.7
