William Henry Jackson was born in 1886 at Tittleshall, Norfolk, he was baptised on 12th February 1887 at Tittleshall, Norfolk, he was the son of Henry Jackson and Emily Calaby who married in the Mitford registration distr ict of Norfolk in 1883.
Their children included: Mabel Grace (b.1884), Gertrude (b.1885), William Henry (b.1887), Amelia (b.1889), Arthur John (b.1891), John (b.1893), Edith May (b.1897), Gladys (b.1899) and Herbert (b.1901).
The family lived at: Summer End, East Walton, Norfolk [C.1891]; 59 Holden Street, Radford [C.1901]; 11 Vane Street, Radford Woodhouse [C.1911]. Henry Jackson, a maltster, probably died at Nottingham, aged 47, in 1909 while his wife, Emily, died at Nottingham in 1928, aged 64.
William Henry Jackson married Nellie Taylor (born 7th April 1885) they were married in 1907 at Nottingham, they lived at 27 Leivers Street, Radford Woodhose, Nottingham. they had three children, William Henry born 1st November 1908, Nellie Elizabeth born 21st April 1913 and Emily born 31st July 1914.
It has not proved possible to identify William Henry Jackson on the 1911 census. The death notice placed in the Nottingham Evening Post gave his address as 27 Lievers Street, Radford Woodhouse [3/4/1917].
Commencing 21st May 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week.
Lance Corporal William Henry Jackson enlisted at Nottingham with 8th Bn. Sherwood Foresters [Service No.51909] on 11th December 1915; mobilised on 13 June 1916; embarked for France 14 November 1916; transferred to 8th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers on 2 December 1916 he was killed in action in France on 30th November 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. .
