Henry Hobkinson was the son of William Hobkinson and Jane Price who married in the Holywell registration district in Flintshire in 1879. Their two children were: William (b.1879) and Henry (b.1884). The family lived at: Elmhurst Lodge, Tuffley, Gloucestershire [C.1891]; 1 Brunel Terrace, Derby Road, Lenton [C.1901]; 14 Radford Grove Lane, Radford [C.1911]. William Hobkinson, a groom and coachman, died at Nottingham, aged 50, in 1895. Jane Hobkinson described herself as a housekeeper in the 1901 census. She died at Nottingham in 1932, aged 76.
Private Henry Hobkinson enlisted at Nottingham; he served with the 2/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 21st March 1918, as his body was not recovered his name was added to the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
