Harold Parker was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of George Parker, born in 1863 in Nottingham, working as a domestic coachman and later as a groom and Annie Winifred Steele born in 1869 Adbolton, Nottinghamshire.
They were maried in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham registration district, and went on to have 5 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 38 Conway Street, Nottingham, George 48 yrs was a groom, he is living with his wife Annie Winifred 45 yrs and their children, Harold 19 yrs a baker, May 14 yrs a pattern girl and Winifred 9 yrs of age.
The family lived at 17 Chaucer Terrace, Nottingham before moving to 38 Conway Street and finally 30 Sherwin Street, Nottingham.
Harold Parker was married to Florence Harper (born 22nd April 1890) they were married on 1st August 1913 in St Ann's, Nottingham, they lived at 34 Pym Street, Nottingham.
Commencing 23rd December 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.
Private Harold was called up for service at Bradford, and following training he was drafted to France,he served with the 1/6th West Yorkshire Regiment.
The battalion were involved in the fighting during the Battle of Lys as the German field army attempted to break through to the Channel ports.
He was killed in action on 25thApril 1918 but his body was never recovered. His name was, however, commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
