Albert Edward Hudson was born in 31st May 1887 at Nottijgham, he was the son of Edward a messenger and Sarah Hudson née Price of 25 Skynner Street, Nottingham.
His father Edward Hudson, born in 1855 at Coventry and worked as a carpet sewer and was also a pensioner. his mother Sarah Price born in 1855 at Wolverhampton and working as a carpet sewer. they were married on 5th November 1877 at Kent he brothers were Reginald Frank, born in 1894 in Warwick. Sisters: Ethel Maude, born in 1883 at Wolverhampton, working as a carpet sewer, Elizabeth Louise, born in 1885 at Wolverhampton, working as a carpet sewer and Adeline Beatrice, born in 1891 at Warwick.
In the 1911 census his mother was living at 25 Skynner Street, Nottingham, she is shown as being 55 yrs a carpet sewer, she is living with her children, Elizabeth Louise 25 yrs a carpet sewer, Adelaid Beatric 20 yrs a blouse machinist and Reginald Frank 17 yrs an engineers fitter,
In the same 1911 census his father Edward 56 yrs a messenger is a baorder living at 10 Oldcross Street, Birmingham, he is boarding with a widow Louise Price 67 yrs
Albert Thomas married Lilly Clarke (born 5th Novemner 1885) they were married on 30th July 1910 at St Marks Church, Nottingham, they had a son Reginald Edward born 28th August 1916.they lived at 5 Sandhill Cottages, Sneinton , Nottingham.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 42 Queen'a Grove, Queen's Walk, Nottingham, Albert Edward 24 yrs is a drayman, van man he is living with his wife Lily 25 yrs of age.
Sergeant Albert Edward Hudson was called up at Bury Lancashire and following training he was drafted to France as a member of 'C' Company, 11th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He was involved in the German offensive on the French- Flanders border, Operation Georgette, in April 1918. The British line was pushed back some distance but did not break. Sgt Hudson was killed in action 15th April 1918 and buried at Ebblinghem Military Cemetery.
In memoriam published 15th April 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“HUDSON. – In loving memory of my dear husband, Sergt. A. E. (Ted) Hudson, died of wounds, France, April 15th, 1918. Memory keeps our loved one near us. - Lily, sonny, and mother.”
