James Archie Harris was born in 1891 at Nottingham, he was the son of John a lace maker ans Kate Tacey of 13 Finbury Avenue, Sneinton, Nottingham.

his father: John Joseph Harris, born in 1856 at Radford, Nottingham, and working as a lace maker. his mother: Kate Tacey was, born in 1861 in Sneinton, they were married on 24th July 1880 at Christ Church, Radford, Nottingham, his brothers:John Ernest, born in 1881 at Radford and working as a grocer's assistant and William Robert, born in 1883 and working as a cycle electro-plater. Sisters: Catherine Margaret, born in 1887 and working as a lace pattern maker, Edith lacey, born in 1889 and working as a lace jennies, Beatrice, born in 1897 and working as a hosiery finisher and Louie, born in 1899. All the children were born in Sneinton.

Military history

Private Harris enlisted on 06/11/1914 at Nottingham, and following training he was drafted to France on 27/02/1915. The battalion was involved in fighting in the Zillebeke area of the Ypres Salient, and Pte. Harris was killed in action on 09/09/1915. he was buried at Hedge Row Trench Cemetery.
