Father: Richard Fletcher, born in 1847 at Heanor, Derbshire and working as a waste dealer. Mother: Sarah, born 1848 in Nottingham.
Brother: Percy, born 1887 in Nottingham and working as a cotton threader and later a lace maker.
Sisters : Phoebe, born in 1879 in Nottingham and working as a cotton winder, Mary, born in 1883 in Nottingham and also working as a cotton winder, Linda, born in 1889 at Long Eaton, Derbyshire and working as a lace maker and Gladys, born in 1898 at Kegworth, Leicestershire.
The family lived at 12 Union Street, Long Eaton.
George Henry Fletcher married Beatrice May Fletcher nee Bramer in 1909. Beatrice was born in 1886 at Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
They lived at 132 Exeter Road, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham, before moving to 25 Preston Terrace, Bunbury Street, the Meadows, Nottingham.

Military history

After enlistment Private, Fletcher was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France with the 16th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment.
The battalion took part in fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres, (Passchendaele, possibly th Battle of the Menin Road).
Killed In Action : 20th September 1917.
He is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, arrondisement Ieper, Belgium .
Grave Reference : Plot : LXVI : C5.
Personal Inscription reads : "Fondly Remembered".

Also commemorated on the Loggerheads War Memorial, Nottingham as : Fletcher 268221.
This Memorial used to reside in the Loggerheads Public House, cliff Road, Narrow Marsh, Nottingham but was transferred to the nearby St. Mary's Church in the Lace Market, Nottingham when the Public House was closed and sold, it was rededicated inNovember 2011.
