Family History
Mother: Kate Allsopp, born 1868 Marsh, Nottingham. Worked as lace clipper. Widowed. Moved to 72 Henry Street, Sneinton, Nottingham.
He also had three brothers; Edgar, born 1898, Herbert, born 1901 and Ernest, born 1909. All the children were born in Nottingham.
Military History
Pte. Allsopp became professional soldier in 4th Bn Sherwood Foresters on 16/01/ 1912. He served at home until 11/11/1914 when embarked for France. He was posted to 2nd Bn. Sherwood Foresters, but he was killed in action 09/08/1915 during in fighting in the Hooge area. Casualties were especially heavy. Pte. Allsopp's body was not recovered but his name was commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
