Family history

William Robinson was born in 1896 at Lenton, Nottingham, the son of William and Annie Robinson (née Vickers).

His father, William Robinson was born in 1869 at Derby and his mother, Annie Vickers was born in 1871 at Lenton, Nottingham. They were married in 1892 (Nottingham Registration District) and had five children, all of whom were born in Lenton, Nottingham: Hilda Robinson b.1897, William Robinson b.1896, George b.1899, Albert Robinson b. 1907 and Cecelia b.1910.

In the 1911 Census the family was living at 9 Warwick Street, Lenton, Nottingham: William Robinson snr (42), leather dresser, Annie (40) and their children William (15), a packer in a lace factory; Hilda Robinson (14), a lace pattern girl, George (12) who was at school,
Albert (4) and Cecelia (1).

William Robinson jnr. married Alice Boyer (or Bowyer) in 1919 (Nottingham Registration District).

Military history

William Robinson served with the 1st/1st Battalion, South Notts Hussars, Nottinghamshire Yeomanry. He died in Nottingham General Hospital on 29 November 1919 aged 24.

He was buried in Nottingham General Cemetery following a military funeral (grave ref. 03978). Joint grave with 231663 Ldg Stoker Joseph Harry Bell RN who died in Nottingham General Hospital on 16 December 1919.
