Family history

Arthur Shore was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of John a platerer and Julia Shore, née Hushen of 18, Enoch Terrace, Peas Hill Rd., Nottingham.

His father John was born in 1870 at Nottingham, his mother Julia Hushen was born in 1872 also at Nottingham, they were married in 1892 at Mansfield, they had 10 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 72 Norland Road, Nottingham, John 41 yrs is a plasterer, he is living with his wife Julia 39 yrs and their 7 children including Arthur 13 yrs a dray boy.

Military history

Private Arthur Shore enisted at Nottingham, he served with the 3rd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died on 30th September 1915 of septic peritonitis at Sunderland, he is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery.
