Epperstone - Holy Cross Church Parishioners

Holy Cross Church, Main Street, Epperstone, Nottingamshire, NG14 6AD. A faculty dated 16 December 1921 allowed the installation on the wall at the west end of the church a tablet 'as a memorial of those from Epperstone who fell in the war, the same tablet to have a border of alabaster and mosaic and centre of white marble upon which are the names of those who fell together with an inscription in the words and figures following, that is to say: 1914-1918 Those of this place who fell in the World War (here follows the names).' (Nottinghamshire Archives, ref PR30.324) There is also a tablet on the road side of the boundary wall, '1914-1918. This tablet is erected in grateful remembrance of those of this village who served their Kind and Country in the Great War. Lest we forget.' (WMA 27164).
