This is a private memorial in St Nicholas' Church, Hockerton. The stained glass depicts St George and was placed in a medieval window in the south wall of the nave. The window was made by the Whitefriars Studio. Dedication: 'In loving memory of John Philip Smith, rector 1913-1915, and of Duncan his son who gave his life for his country 1917’. The WMA record lists this memorial as 'Duncan Smith'. Duncan is buried in Hockerton (St Nicholas) churchyard. There is no war memorial in the parish church. St Nicholas' church, which is a Grade II listed building and on the English Heritage 'at risk' register, is closed and presently for sale (2015).
