Normanton on Soar Air Crash - World War Two

Wellington MF200 of 28OTU departed Wymeswold at 0230 19/4/1944 for circuit training but crashed at Normanton on Soar thirty five minutes later, killing all four airmen on board. The pilot, DH King, was experienced with 1,500 hours flying time but only 10 hours on Wellingtons.

The memorial plaque is in a field adjacent to the Village Hall off Main Street, Normanton on Soar.
